Mars Rover Names and Star Trek

I was listening to a discussion of the Mars-rover Opportunity on CBC Radio's The Current while doing my cleaning project.

As a Star Trek fan: I'd be disappointed to not see the rover names represented in Starfleet's order of operations-type starship lists.

(Okay, maybe "Opportunity" would be one that the Ferengi merchant fleet would want an exclusive claim on...)

Weather Worries

As I write these words, we have the following in effect for the Ottawa-Gatineau region:

Tornado Watch
Tornado Warning
Special Weather Statement

We have outages in Riverside Park South, Barrhaven and parts of Gatineau.

Just so you know.

Adding to that weather worry

"Marble-sized ice pellets" in Chelsea, AKA the north end of Gatineau.

Keeping the narrative going

CBC Ottawa's running on backup generator(s) due to an outage in Centretown.

Post-Tornado

It's starting to look as if we're past the worst of it for tonight.

Also, Dunrobin and Barrhaven are on the far western to southwestern fringes of urban Ottawa, well away from my neighbourhood. And Gatineau's on the other side of Kichissippi(AKA the Ottawa River) from me. All of those being where tornado action happened or was seen from.

At EF-2, it's apparently the strongest such tornado action the region's been recorded as experiencing.

Now, I guess the recovery starts, and we start counting up the damages.
