I've finally managed it: cracked the glass on a cell-phone screen by drop-throwing it to the floor by accident in the process of unplugging it. Didn't even notice the crack in the screen until I got back to the house from the day's errands.

It still works as designed, yes. But that it took me four phones to get to this point?

Not the end of the world - I got my first iPhone free because it was a bit old and the screen was cracked, I think it cost about £15 to get it fixed, and took about 20 minutes. Provided the actual LCD layer isn't damaged it's a simple repair for someone who knows what they're doing.

I've never broken the screen, but I broke the back glass on my iPhone 8. When I was finally able to get to a Gorilla Glass protective film kiosk, the guy said he could also film the back to prevent it from spreading or glass falling out and causing potential problems, so I paid a bit extra to have that done.

ALLEGEDLY the new iPhone 15, and hopefully models on down the line, it's much easier to replace the back glass.

Yeah, mine's been cracked for nearly 2 years now. Surprisingly, it still works fine for touch response, so I've never splurged for repair/replace. I'll keep using it as long as I can, probably.

Not quite at the point of having fun breaking phones, but i can suspect it's not far over the horizon. I'm so old school, i rather miss the days that the phone was wired and sat on a desk somewhere or on the wall, usually near/in the kitchen for the woman's (wife's) ease of access.

Back then, if something was actually important, one went to find the person involved and spoke to them F2F. Hugs applied as suitable for the sort of important thing that they were fitting for. Haven't figured out how to hug via cell phone.

Totally have no use for the AI snoops that are being foisted on us.

Anyone remember the show "Max Headroom"?

lol... i meant me, not you.
If i can manage it, the one of the last things i want to do before leaving this realm is to smash my cell.
Having it around had some benefit, but it's def a "love-hate" thing.
