Just got back into town...
Oct. 20th, 2008 07:05 pm...from Montréal today, and was slightly astonished to see some of the comments in reply to an article on an accident at the old Somerset House at Bank and Somerset.
I know there's been a lot of traffic tangles in recent years in that area, as much due to the near-demolition that happened a year or two ago as to any other causes already heavily documented in the news. But it strikes me that this is a building that's been there since...when? Since Sir John A.'s second run as PM, I believe? Can someone confirm or debunk that?
Anyway, it's been there for about a century. It looks like it, looked cool in some respects as a result. It's a place I'd be inclined to use for a TV or movie shoot if I had a script that needed such landmarks in the works. It's history that's still standing and could use a little sprucing up in order to keep standing. I'd like to see that sprucing up happen.
What's wrong with that?
More on the Montréal trip, comics, SF and life in general to come.
