I spotted this item on CBC today re: border security plans drawn up in Washington.

Maybe someone inside the Beltway's becoming a little more nervous about us than they need to be?

The Canadian border guard at Niagara Falls saw my Texas plates and the first thing he asked me was how many GUNS I was bringing into Canada. Not if I HAD any guns, but how many. The answer was "none." Of course, he didn't know what picante sauce was either, so that was a fun food discussion moment.

So I guess ya'll already expect us to be gun running across the border now:)

Sad truth: In some quarters of the city of Toronto, that's become more than an expectation, but rather a certainty.

I seem to recall a couple of years ago how one year got the nickname of the "Summer of the Gun" in the Toronto Star, thanks to the homicide rate that year. Current mayor David Miller's been in a not-so-slow burn over what appears to have been a repeat occurrence this year.
