I took this one while visiting relatives in Nanaimo in 2008. Those critters, even then, tended to get into everyone's backyards in that city.

This is an issue in all parts of BC. Most local nurseries have a special section for "deer-resistant" plants. Most people's cedar hedges have a gnaw-line. :)

Heck, I still see deer in Fremont sometimes; the last time was a couple of years ago in an open space the other side of the freeway from my childhood home. My mother told me when I was a kid, she could look out our kitchen window sometimes and see them. Our home was built where apricot orchards used to rule.
