So I got to see the last installment of Retail(: the Comic Strip) today, apparently. Because Sunday comic strips are always published on Saturdays in Canadian newspapers. Even when there's a Sunday edition of that particular paper.
It's...anticlimactic. And unsentimental, too.
Perhaps that shouldn't have been a surprise.

Date: 2020-02-23 05:53 pm (UTC)The Sears min-store here closed a few years ago, I found the big store in Las Cruces had closed when we were in town last week. A couple of days later I found an email in my spam folder from some liquidator saying that they were handling the closing of their stores, Beelzebub, Inc., IIRC.
The closing of Sears was probably inevitable as they were too highly leveraged on mall property, but the way they let in a vulture capitalist as CEO just really takes the cake. He made a fortune selling Sears to himself and then gutting it.
