And while I was hoping to get through Remembrance Day without making some kind of statement of political opinion and argument...so much for that hope.

As an artist and a patriot - by my own lights, if no one else's - I have to say "no" to Federal Heritage Minister Verner's claim that a national cultural institute does not, by definition, have to be housed in the National Capital Region.

Also, I assume, by the fact that she was able to speak of this herself at all, that Prime Minister Harper approved the message she was sending out to the news services and the public, and likely approved it personally. Mr. Harper, I reject your logic on this point. Almost all other nations with anything approaching self-respect would - and have, I believe - rejected this logic and this assertion made by your Heritage Minister.

Please put the National Portrait Gallery where it was originally announced and planned to be placed, Mr. Harper: right across Wellington Street from Parliament Hill.

Yes, I agree. I sometimes wonder what these people are thinking of. Common sense? Not exactly.

I often felt, back during the Harris years, that he was leading a revolution alright...against common sense.

That would explain a lot.
