That was an interesting story; I hope he works out. Relationships between top brass and police union types are always fraught, and that's usually (sadly, very sadly) because police unions are the one kind of union that I, a born Union Maid, dislike. They are inflexible, all too often rife with misogyny and racism, and unwilling to change.

There have been issues between the board and the union, in Ottawa as in Toronto. Resistance to accountability is always a concern here.
