Meditating on the Subject of the Fourth
Jul. 4th, 2019 09:06 amI would see the United States restored to some degree of actual good political health. No matter the number of its citizens who now seem dedicated to doing wrong and praising - worse, believing, in some cases! - that wrong as if it were virtue. Some of you reading this now, I know to be in some agony over that fact. Seeing strangers, co-workers, neighbours, family...giving themselves over to such thinking.
It hurts.
I wish you solace.
I wish you hope.
I wish you strength of mind and heart.
I wish you justice.
I wish you joy.
I wish you peace of mind and heart.
May this Fourth of July be another, better step on the road to those things.

With crap like the SCOTUS punting on the gerrymandering case, it could take decades before this country is rational again. I don't know if it will happen in what remains of my lifetime. All in the name of partisanship.
