This morning I read about how one of the hostages of the Vulgarian right now is Canadian food safety as well as that of Americans. Surprise!

No, I'm not thanking the Vulgarian and his cronies and enablers for this. I'm cursing them and their political fortunes and their "freedom"(!) to endanger the rest of us humans.

Tonight, I will salve my pain and fear with the second season premier episode of Star Trek: Discovery.

Meantime, I've still got a day job to report to.

I understand that a number of furloughed workers were recalled to active duty, without pay, and some food inspectors were part of that group. It still leaves a week or two gap without inspection.

Yeah, food inspection is among the 'freedoms' that the idiots who think corporations will do a better job than government want.

Bleep that nonsense. I like having high confidence in the safety of what I eat and drink. A lot.

Completely agree. Drinking is probably safer. We went out for Mexican food last night, my wife had a prickly pear salad and commented that there was no Romaine in it. Of course there was a big Romaine recall before the shutdown.

I've had a couple of encounters with tainted food. It ain't any fun. Fortunately none since my immune system collapsed, I can't imagine what it would be like now!
