I sold some stuff, drew some other stuff(some of which you may be hearing more about later), and explored parts of Toronto I'd never visited before. I didn't do everything I wanted, but I think it worked out to the good.

Hopefully, I'll be doing this again sooner than later.

Ask yer questions. If anyone's too nosy, I'll just virtually squelch the offender(s).

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jcoville for taking the above photo.

I think that there's another con in Toronto in August--are you going to that one?

August?

No idea yet on the Hobbystar convention in August. I'll let you know more if/when I figure it out.

You've reminded me to think over another question by asking that one: are there other cons within the Corridor(Ottawa-Montreal-Toronto) set for the next half-year that I should take a look at attending?

Who was there? Did you meet anyone new and interesting?

I met a whole slew of people, old acquaintances and new alike. I have to admit that most of the people I went out of my way to meet in person were people I know from various online forae, including Livejournal. It was important to finally put faces beside names this year.

I always really enjoy meeting people I know online for the first time. I'm always amazed how much the in-person character fits the online character; and though I may not have a clear mental image of people, they invariably fit what I expected them to be like.

I know they say there are people out there posing as 13 year old girls when they are middle aged men and vice versa, but everyone I've met has been exactly what they seemed to be!

So far, it does seem to have worked out pretty well. A combination of knowing when to trust, educated guesswork and just plain luck holds up well enough in most circumstances.

Further: One guy I'd been wanting to say "hello" to again for a few years showed up on the first day: Malcolm Bourne. I believe you'd remember him from a fanzine we both contributed to that he co-edited...?

Mea culpa...

Malcolm Bourne! Yes, we both wrote for the same fanzine, and we were letterhacks of the same era, and at one time were together in the same apazine... and I met him on several occasions at San Diego Comic Con. Haven't seen him for ages now. How wonderful! So - he's well? Is he still writing?

He's certainly well, particularly given his travelling to our side of both the Pond and the Line. I believe he's had at least one graphic novel published in the last couple of years, although if there's more on the way, I couldn't tell you yet. I hope to remedy this.

I've since told him to expect to hear from you. He's looking forward to it.

Do you have a current address for him that you could pass on to me?
