Noting for the Record

Today has three anniversaries I know to pay attention to:

1) Holocaust Remembrance Day

2) The end of direct American offensive involvement in the Vietnam War. (I may well be unclear on the specifics of this.)

3) The Apollo I cabin fire that ended Grissom, Chaffee and White.

To those commemorating this, I wish you wisdom and peace of heart and mind.

The Apollo 1 fire. I still remember that. So sad at the height of the space race.

That Apollo fire was indeed a tragedy, but it did teach EVERYONE that space capsule doors MUST open outward! I don't understand how they couldn't realize that a pure oxygen atmosphere wouldn't be so dangerous in an environment filled with so much electrical equipment and switches.
