dewline: Facepalming upon learning bad news (bad news)

Guardian reporter Carole Cadwalladr - one of the best reporters covering the whole Putinist campaign against global democracy at the moment - documents an attempt to intimidate her into silence:

I have no love for people who posted that bit of intimidation on the Leave.EU Twitter account. None. At all. Bullies in general tend to annoy me by their actions. Including psychological warfare.

It can't be soon enough that Mueller releases more information about Trump's fundamental interconnectedness with Russia before, during, and after last year's election. His lies so badly need to be exposed, not to mention his lifetime of bullying.

Bill Maher had his final episode of the year Friday night. In his final segment, New Rules, he spoke as the Ghost of Trump Past and played clips of an actually humble Trump. It was pretty amazing to listen to (I listen to the podcast while driving). Apparently extended listening to Faux Newts, among other things, has truly rotted his soul.

Using that gag from Airplane! is part of the whole MO of posting threats that you can always back off from and characterize as just a stupid joke, and then complain that your targets are humorless scolds who need to lighten up a little. It's one of my least favorite bully tactics.
