I'm feeling more than a little vexed tonight for several reasons.

I just watched what looks like the last-ever episode of FlashForward on A-Channel tonight. Mark and Olivia Benford, Simon Campos, Demetri Noh, Lloyd Simcoe, Janis Hawk, and all the rest? We may well never see the rest of their story. You know I read Rob Sawyer's novel, the book that kicked the whole thing off...so I've got an emotional stake in this. I know what the market realities are as well as anyone. I just find that I can't care so much for them.

I see that the dog-piling of the neo-conservatives continues re: alleged CBC bias continues unabated. You openly disagree with these people who believe that CBC's existence is a threat to their definition of Canadian values, they will try to drown you out in their angry echo-chamber postings. Constant repetition, constant rage, these will triumph over sense and logic and democratic ethics...so they hope, it seems.

Tech issues: What happened to my LJ settings? I had it set so that I could read 20-30 postings at a stretch. Now it's back at 10. How do I fix this?

Oh, and I wanted to go see The Trotsky again at Silver City Gloucester tomorrow night. Not gonna happen, because their parent company ordered them to pull the movie after two weeks. Standard Canadian Content procedure.

I wanted to talk about things that made me feel good.

Not happening tonight, I guess.

Looks like I'm going to be on unpaid leave for a week longer than I expected. Means more time for the illustration, writing and house chores, though.

I saw tonight's FlashForward. Good installment, the night before the season-ending Cliffhanger. From what I'm hearing on Facebook, next week's installment could be another one of those cliffhangers ordered to remain unresolved by network decree. I hope that rumour's wrong, partly because I'd love to see more episodes like last week's "Course Correction" written by franchise founder Robert J. Sawyer his own self. Yes, having said "Hello" to Rob's face yet again this past Monday at the Clocktower Pub, I am bloody well biased on this point.

Bat-stuff of note: I am liking Damian Wayne more and more as time goes on. Last week, in the pages of Batman and Robin # 12 and Red Robin # 12, he had two very good moments. No, I will not spoil them for you here. Go forth, buy and read the stories in question yourselves.

Out in our world for a moment: I suggest that you keep an eye out for one book in particular over the next little while: The Armageddon Factor The Rise of Christian Nationalism in Canada by Marci McDonald. It builds on an article for The Walrus under her byline a couple of years back, "Stephen Harper and the Theo-Cons". I intend to lay hands on it via the library soon for a closer look-see.
