I'm feeling more than a little vexed tonight for several reasons.

I just watched what looks like the last-ever episode of FlashForward on A-Channel tonight. Mark and Olivia Benford, Simon Campos, Demetri Noh, Lloyd Simcoe, Janis Hawk, and all the rest? We may well never see the rest of their story. You know I read Rob Sawyer's novel, the book that kicked the whole thing off...so I've got an emotional stake in this. I know what the market realities are as well as anyone. I just find that I can't care so much for them.

I see that the dog-piling of the neo-conservatives continues re: alleged CBC bias continues unabated. You openly disagree with these people who believe that CBC's existence is a threat to their definition of Canadian values, they will try to drown you out in their angry echo-chamber postings. Constant repetition, constant rage, these will triumph over sense and logic and democratic ethics...so they hope, it seems.

Tech issues: What happened to my LJ settings? I had it set so that I could read 20-30 postings at a stretch. Now it's back at 10. How do I fix this?

Oh, and I wanted to go see The Trotsky again at Silver City Gloucester tomorrow night. Not gonna happen, because their parent company ordered them to pull the movie after two weeks. Standard Canadian Content procedure.

I wanted to talk about things that made me feel good.

Not happening tonight, I guess.

I could have sworn I posted something in that CBC discussion, but I can't seem to find it anymore...or was it in the last thread you started about this?

I think it was in the latter instance, yeah.

What happened to the LJ settings is a more interesting mystery than FlashForward!

I can't even find where I can change it. I just don't see an option for it. Did you have any luck?

Not yet. Keeping the eyes open while I still have working eyesight...

Agreed. This reduction to 10 posts annoys me so much, I'm inclined to stay away.

I never watched FlashForward, I didn't read the novel. When I saw the concept, it didn't strike me as something suitable for serial storytelling. Novel, yes. TV miniseries or movie, yes. Ongoing TV show, no.

1. Not sure I want to call it quits with LJ over this myself if there's a way to reset the system back to how I want it to run for me.

2. The adaptation of FlashForward was one of those situations where the insertion of a long-running criminal conspiracy always comes in handily! :-)

There are a lot of people these days who never buy regular comics, they just wait for the graphic novel collections. The way TV shows get canceled these days, there must be people who don't start watching a new TV series until it's out as a DVD box set and they know whether there'll be another season. Good for whoever produces the series and the DVDs, not so much for the networks... but if they keep prematurely canceling shows, what can they expect?

And, yeah: WTF, LJ?

As with comic books, so too with TV?

It's a workable theory, and one I'm inclined to agree with these days. "Waiting for the DVD (set)" is (going to be?) a problem.

If the DVD sales spike as we might hope they do, what will ABC do in response? They're already losing key cast members to other shows.
