I haven't read the novel and don't think I ever saw the original movie, but I still remember (with much pleasure and fondness — and a fear to watch it again, less the suck fairy pay a visit) the all-too-brief television series. Was I 12 years old when I saw it? 10?

Whatever, thanks for the link; I'm sad about the passing, but happy to have learned so much about the writer.
