We've had a few false starts, but the new winter is indeed upon us at last today.

I could've done without my first slipslide on the snow-covered asphalt this afternoon coming home with the bread and whatnot from the grocery. But then, that's the way every year for 4-5 months at a stretch if you're living in the (rightly) self-proclaimed True North. It's the price of admission, whether you're born here or borne here, and if you like living here then it's like the tax system: you pay it. With a ton of complaints, as is your right, but you pay it nonetheless.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the coming federal election, even though I think that a minority government situation is actually the best thing we could possibly have for an elected government at the moment. I know the leaders of the Big Four parties of the moment chafe every day over our collective will as voters being expressed in such undeluded fashion, but so what? We've had enough of clear majorities for a couple of decades, quite frankly, as we've seen what happens when we do elect them over the last two or three decades.

I also think we could stand to pepper things up a little more with two or three additional parties added to the mix in the House of Commons, preferably at the joint expense of Liberals, New Conservatives and Bloc MPs. A Green Party presence in particular could be of use in the House, as we need a little more focus on cleaning up some of the messes we've been making across the national landscape.

How about the rest of you?
