I can understand not wanting to live in Summerside, having had a year of it myself, but living in Charlottetown and working in Summerside is a tad silly. Not that you couldn't do it in less time than it would take to get from Orleans to Kanata on a hockey night, but still...

It's about 54km from one to the other, which is a long commute in a place with so small a population and no big multi-lane highways. Charlottetown is prettier and more touristy, and has more good pubs and restaurants, but it's still only got about 32,000 people to Summerside's 14,000. It's not like one's the big city and the other is the little hick town.

Is there something about Summerside that makes it unupgradable?

Signed Concerned, because I have something set in the !Glorious Summerside of Tommorrow!

Most of my knowledge of Summerside is restricted to the nasty and violent little hellhole it was circa 1980-82. I was there again very briefly this summer and saw some signs of growth. Maybe replacing the military with a GST centre has improved things -- the townies get government money without having to accept new people into their town -- but I wouldn't want to live there long enough to find out.
