So. There was a bus-train collision today in the southwest corner of the city today.

I was already safely at my day job when I heard the news over the radio. Worried about one family I know of who live in that neighbourhood. I've since found out that they're all okay.

I've been on buses passing through there, and I've ridden the train in both directions through there as well. Call the mood...sombre. Otherwise, I'm looking at this and seeing a mystery in why it happened at all.

Beyond that, not sure what else to say...

Its very sad about the crash. I actually could swear I've seen the driver before. I hope the media stays with the story and we find out what caused the collision.

It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that we both had seen him on one run or another over the last few years.

As for the news services...agreed. I'm admittedly biased in favour of CBC News based on my own dealings with them, but I can't imagine them letting this go until it's solved, by police or anyone else.

It's a small world -- one of the survivors is a student in Laura's department, and my boss used to know one of the ones who died.

I saw one comment in an early bit of news coverage from a passenger who wondered if the driver had been sleeping or texting. I didn't see it in later versions. At any rate, I hope OC Transpo is doing some checks of its double deckers in case it was some mechanical problem.

Would not surprise me to find they've begun a fleet-wide inspection on the not-so-QT.
