Something to be abhorred, surely. I grew up as the scion of such people myself, and I find the survival of that class as a group and a goal to be achieved...well, I'd prefer it to several of the alternatives.

One of the things I find as a regular visitor to Publicbroadcasting.ca is that there's a lot of links to a lot of blogs of interest. Take that of Bill Doskoch in the media section for example. He's a reporter who's worked everywhere from Regina to Phnom Penh to Toronto, print and video.

Today, he pointed up something of concern, particularly as regards the future of the middle class in humanity's larger cities. (See? I brought it back on point quickly enough, yes?)

Here's his summation on a New York Times piece on the matter. Leaves me more than a little nervous...

You'd think they'd know enough to not engineer such a situation, wouldn't you? 6,000 years of recorded history to warn against creating this kind of mess?
