Oh, there are solutions out there. I have suggested a few, too. The problem is getting a reasonable hearing for them.
Breaking up large multi-nationals? Discouraging car use? Encouraging competition everywhere? Supporting better stewardship for the environment? I would say that these would go a long way to solving many of our current problems.
But, because they (or some of them) threaten to "gore the ox" of the powers that be, they will be resisted, ignored and rejected whenever possible. And nothing will change. :-(
