I haven't yet encountered it myself, but if true, this couple be a Major Problem for many of us LJ users. Hoping the management has gotten hopping re: fixing it!
If you're not paying for a service, you're not the customer, you're the product.
This is not in and of itself an evil paradigm, but I don't think people would be comfortable realizing the depth to which their lives have been commoditized, or the sometimes arbitrary nature of the safeguards involved.
And sometimes, even when you're paying for the service, you're still treated as if you're the product. Which is an annoying act of conflation on someone's part, whether deliberate or by accident.
