Been hearing some interesting noises, and hoping my NYC friendlisters can tell me what's up. Something to do with investment bankers, impunity, bailouts and protest campaigns...?

It's #OCCUPYWALLSTREET, which has been going on for days and seems to be trying for Tahrir Square proportions, with a deliberate reference to Arab Spring non-violent protest styles (as we've seen, as as we know going back to Gandhi's days, non-violence is not likely on the side of the authorities.) The data on it is being carried via Twitter and Facebook, mainly, with very little news coverage -- Keith Olbermann covered it on Countdown, with notes about how the story has been suppressed for the most part.

Principal drivers behind it have been Adbusters and Anonymous, and there's been a smattering of Guy Fawkes masks.
