Some quick notes...

Went to Charles de Lint's book sale today. A bit of a joke: my first visit to one of his sales ended up being to the last such book sale he's doing. It's been something I've been wanting to visit for years, but for one reason-excuse or another, I kept managing to miss the event. The timing of that is a little annoying. Likewise the fact that a number of friends of mine also went to the sale today, and I didn't get to say "hi" to a single one of them. The timing is absolutely rotten on that score. Couldn't be helped, seeing as I needed to help someone with rehanging curtains this morning. (Not kidding.)

*shrugs and moves onward*

Found, bought and took home copies of Quantum and Woody: The Director's Cut and Virtual Light. The first of those is a collection of the first four issues of a buddy-movie/superhero comic written by Christopher Priest and illustrated by Mark "Doc" Bright. Sobering and funny, by turns, and sometimes all at once. Life is messy, it is often absurd, and this book took that fact and ran like crazy with it. I miss those characters.

William Gibson, most of you reading this weblog regularly already know. I need to get better acquainted with his writing, so that's why that book is now in my library for however long it stays.

One thing for sure: I will have to start holding my own annual yard sales sooner or later. There is no avoiding that for me. No chance at all.

Doctor Who tonight...while I'm still not sure who's behind the nominal threat forces appearing in tonight's instalment...we did get some serious answers about longstanding questions. And River really brought some home truths into clear view for the Doctor, didn't she?

Was this really episode # 777?

More in a bit on a certain comics reboot...
