Podcasting, Budgets, What the...?
May. 2nd, 2006 04:43 pmSomething's apparently going on at either WIPO or the UN re: podcasting, and according to Cory Doctorow, it's going to be something Very Bad For All of Us. Whether we understand what podcasting is or not. I can't say that I do understand much more than that I enjoyed some of the downloads that resulted from it during the CBC Lockout of 2005. And I might enjoy other stuff from different sources down the line.
Just so you know. Go read it, and if you understand all of it, explain it back to me.
And, of course, there's the Federal Budget coming out of Parliament Hill today even as I type this. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's still reeling off the New Conservative Party line on what it's got for whom at the moment. I'm of uncertain opinion of a lot of it as a citizen, save for one thing: does it make sense for any reason other than trying to secure votes in the next federal election to have tax cut plans at all when Canada's in the middle of a war?
Again, if you can figure out an answer to that one that makes sense, let me hear it. I'd love to know.
I note that Geoff Johns and Greg Rucka's Comicbloc.com forums are offline for the next couple of days. Given that Infinite Crisis # 7 is supposed to hit the racks this week, this decision makes considerably more sense than some of the ones covered above.
Worlds, real and fictional, seem to be going crazy again...
