Partly at [personal profile] flamingsword's urging and partly because of a rescheduling of last week's appointment with my GP, here's an imperfect description of my left arm troubles, sometimes all at once, other times in parts:

- "pins and needles"-like numbnmess starting at either elbow or wrist, extending to fingertips
- warm ache in the "inside" of the elbow
- warm/locking ache around the shoulder blade, usually from below
- ache inside the clavicle region
- muscle ache in the upper arm

This sounds very similar to symptoms I've been having. They discovered that I had a herniated disc in a section of the spine that is very close to the neck, so the upper spine. I recently had a steroid shot in that area, to cut swelling around the disc. It may take 2-3 weeks for us to figure out if it works, but I'm hopeful.

Also, it's good to see Bruck Cockburn's name in your music. It's been a long time since I've heard his music, and I always liked it.

Do you have an inkling what is producing these sensations?

The first time I got the tingly/numb thing, I was working at a call centre where I sat with my elbow on the table, holding a handset to my ear for eight hours a day. It only took about 6 weeks for the effect to occur. It was on my left side because I was using the other side to write with.

Repetitive thingie.

I'm going to echo what Kaffy_r said. This sounds very much like pinched nerve of some sort. It may or may not be a herniated disk, but ...

If you have sudden muscle weakness in your arm/hand, like cannot lift your arm, or tighten your grip, please head for the emergency room.

In the meantime, I suggest rest as much as possible.

It does sound like either Thoracic Outlet Syndrome or a bulging disc is pressing on a nerve root. Steroid shots along the spine can be super helpful for that last one. If you go to your doc, they will want imaging of some sort, or positional testing by a PT before they do anything that might help.

Here are some videos that should tell you if this is from the Good Ideas bin:

If you have to recruit someone to spot you, then you can hopefully get one of the housemates to step up.

Maybe do some ice on the area of the disc that seems to have the most pain near the spine? Good night, and 🫂💜🍀

Sounds unpleasant. I hope it can be resolved easily and well.

Very good to record such, sounds like a nerve problem in the shoulder. Best of luck getting a resolution!
