Some positive anniversaries of September 11th

These are things I want to be glad about on this day...

One is the anniversary of the birth of my late and much-missed friend and ally in comics-making, Leah pikachette Adezio. I am glad to say that she was part of my life as a fellow cartoonist, despite the hurdles of our respective lives.

Another is the wedding anniversary of steve_roby. Steve's a fellow Trekker/Trekkie of longstanding, and maintains a fan/historian's interest in the many hundreds of books spun out of the adventures of the heroes given us by Roddenberry, Piller, Berman, Abrams and their many assorted allies across the decades. Long may Steve's wife and their marriage be with us, and may their joy only increase across the decades.

For a third, there's what astronaut Steve McLean called the Great Canadian Handshake. A little bit of space exploration history there, one that I hope will also never be forgotten by my country or the planet.

More on other topics later today and tonight. After all, there's a writing workshop to attend at Collected Works Bookstore at 7 PM today...

A Speech of Interest

Given today's most dire anniversary, and what a number of us fear it's been used to leverage our home countries into becoming, this particular link pointed out via acquaintances on National Capital FreeNet to a Huffington Post Canada article...well, it seems apropos to the occasion. Hopefully not as a dire prediction of an inescapable future, but rather as a piece of usefully heeded advice.
