In the Wake of the Ides of December
Dec. 17th, 2006 11:29 amI've just about wrapped up my gift-hunting. At least, I think I have. I'm sure that many of you have had years where you thought you had everything wrapped and set to hand out on the big day. But somewhere along the line, you've stumbled across someone you'd either forgotten or suddenly felt an urge to show appreciation to whom you'd never expected such an impulse to apply at all.
At such times, a mad scramble is both logical -- as much as such things can be logical -- and inevitable. With a week or so left in the countdown, that scramble can be truly insane.
I don't think there's anyone I've missed this go-round. It's just this to deal with:
There are a lot of people out there whose company and support I'm glad to have, and many of you are already reading this. Others, as yet, are not but at some point will do so. Some may never want to look at a weblog of any sort for as long as they live, and I respect that choice. Others cannot, and their desire to the contrary avails them not at all.
To you all, my thanks. I wish you well during this Season, by whatever names you honour its spirit.
May we all be well in the year ahead, by whatever calendars we measure and number it.
