Gak! I don't remember tornadoes being a thing in Ottawa when I lived there in the last century. The first time I lived near tornado country it was Boulder CO. (South Denver was in tornado range.)
Well, I recognize the good sense of anyone who picks up and moves from the US to Canada, but clearly Immigration Canada wasn't on the job - Tornado Alley has no potential to become a good citizen ;(
Stay safe. ♥ I spent most of my childhood in Arkansas and the sirens still make me shudder (I saw Twister when I was too young to see it and it scarred me for life). The silver lining is that tornado warnings aren't always definitive in that there's a huge funnel heading for your house. It just means there's rotation in the clouds... it may not even touch the ground.
Anyway, I cope with knowing as much as I can about them. *sweat drop* I don't know if you're the same, but I thought I'd offer that little nugget anyway.
