Montréal: The View Upon Arrival
Oct. 19th, 2008 09:27 am
Just to show you how it looked coming into town on the train from Ottawa. That's the general neighbourhood for next year's WorldCon, Anticipation. The main hotel, the Montréal Delta, is north of that building by what looks to be a block or two.
Later this morning, before Con*Cept resumes, I hope to climb Mount Royal.

Date: 2008-10-20 05:51 am (UTC)Montreal reminds me of the photos I have seen of Paris (in North America). Some of the differences, in architecture or other ways, can be truly startling.
Unfortunately, one of those differences is the Metro, which seems to be full of tire dust (?). Whatever is in the Metro, it triggers allergies in me, rather like ragweed pollen would in you. I made the mistake of staying at a motel where a trip on the Metro was the easiest way to get to the location for Con-Cept. I will have to avoid that mistake for next year's Worldcon, as it seems to do funky things to my health (no need to describe).
Hope your trip home was safe and happy ...
Haven't left town yet...
Date: 2008-10-20 10:03 am (UTC)I tried the Metro myself for the first time this trip - seems to have been a journey of firsts for me - and, thankfully, did not experience the allergy attacks that bothered you. My journey by Metro took me to the neighbourhood Alexis-Nihon and the old Forum.
Speaking of the latter...well, maybe I should reserve that for my next posting.
