I resent having had COVID-19. No matter how mild my case was.

I resent that others have suffered and died of it, and are suffering and dying of it as I typed these words.

I resent being told to "learn to live with it". I resent having to bear witness to others around me being told to "learn to live with it".

I resent being made to take more chances with not only my own safety, but that of family, of friends, of strangers than I am comfortable with on a daily basis just to get by, by way of the careless choices of other people. Those people making these careless choices could be the person behind me in line at the grocery store or in the premier's office at Queens Park. Doesn't matter. The consequences for me and mine and the strangers around us remain the same.

Leslie Charteris - so I remember imperfectly - once wrote that our resentments will kill us if we let them. The resentments I count above are ones I fear I'll have to hold onto to keep myself and/or other people alive in this time of Pandemic not yet ended.

Well said.

I resent that the people making the rules around public safety precautions have access to the best treatment and sick leave if they get it.

Yes, I also hate that I've had COVID and I hate that people don't take it seriously, so I hear you.

I'm really conflicted on this one. I know COVID is still very much with us and you shouldn't feel you have to apologize for taking as many precautions and defensive measures as you can. But I think it's inevitable that there will always be people on one side who say "We've lifted protective measures way too soon!" and on the other side who say that NO public health measures should be actually imposed on us because there are definite mental health considerations associated with prolonged lockdowns, and we just have to deal with COVID and look after ourselves and our families as best we can.

Do you think anything approaching a happy medium is possible here? What would you do if you were in charge at Queen's Park or on Parliament Hill?

Good point.

Our mutual friend here knows that I had mammoth psychological issues with masks (a result of childhood abuse) and as soon as the regulations came off in the UK so did the mask as I almost drove myself insane trying to protect others.

The hub and I came to the conclusion that we just had to get on with stuff- when you reach the mid sixties you realise that you maybe don't have all that much time left to do all those things you want to do!

We're both jabbed up and we've both had the plague, so..............

I'm still annoyed at a guy in the public restroom I ended up having to use today who was unmasked and coughing.
