Must admit that my first thought on seeing this was to wonder if his name inspired Othar Tryggvassen, Gentleman Adventurer!!!! in the Girl Genius web comics, his shuttle flight was a few years before it started so it's possible the Foglios had heard his name, but it's also the name of a king of Iceland so probably not.
