Summerside: A Monument in Need of Kindness

One of the things that makes travel worth doing is seeing things unique to the places you visit. This is one of those things, but when I looked at it with my own eyes it seemed as if it deserved more kindness from those visiting than it's gotten of late. I found it in the downtown section of Summerside, PEI, at a place that used to be a hub of the local rail system. The rails were pulled out of the Island years ago, but the land was turned into a walking trail that runs from one end of the country to the other.





Some things deserve better than they get...

It's, also, a shame that no one who lives there has chosen to do anything about it.

I don't know that something hasn't already been done about it since I left PEI. Nor that something wasn't in the works and simply hadn't been done yet by the time I showed up with the camera. I haven't exactly checked the local news services for further updates, nor with my handful of local contacts, either.

I'd better get to looking.

No, the vandalism doesn't look like such a thing at all.
