I am reminded that I will always see politics and personal health and safety as married, beyond any hope or fear of divorce. I wish I'd thought to say that, using that phrasing, at the table last night.

Yes.

When people say "I'm a nurse in a hospital but I should be able to refuse the COVID vaccine (without any medical reasons)"

or "I want to be able to catch a bus/train without a face mask (without any medical reasons)"

what I hear is

"I'm selfish and I don't care if other people die or become permanently disabled"

I hope with this lifting of the restrictions and vax papers, we can finally live, but I also have a niggling fear that it (covid) will come back with a vengeance. :(

I saw it pointed out that maybe it would have been better to phrase things as "protections" rather than "restrictions."
