I've decided that I am done with cruise ships as a thing we should be allowing as a species.
I'm never going to be able to afford a voyage on one anyways...and I have done myself too much harm in trying to become able to afford it.

Having gone on a large cruise ship before, I can say it is pleasant, but no better than an expensive and cramped hotel with an ocean view.

The ports the large cruise ships dock at even have exactly the same chain stores selling the exact same merchandise, with only a different location name silkscreened onto it.

We could afford one but the idea doesn't appeal at all.

I’m fortunate enough to live near a waterfront that has some patio cafes open in summer, so that covers most of the bases for me.

Having been in the Navy, I never saw the attraction of cruise ships. They are basically floating ways to go shopping (and activity I detest) and have organized "sort of" sports (ditto). "But they're huge and amazing." "Some of the ships I'd been on are also huge and amazing, and lunched missiles and/or aircraft."
