I remember, back around 2002 or so, a huge thunderstorm passed over Austin. At the time, I lived out in the country on a hill with a really good view of the east.
A few hours after the storm (about 2AM or 3AM), I went outside to watch the lightning show you could see in the distance. And then ::fwoof:: I saw something I described as a "carrot in the sky." Split second, blink if you miss it, thing. But when I learned about sprites, that's when I realized that was EXACTLY what I saw....
