dewlineWe are reminded of Orange Shirt Day, to commemorate the living and the dead alike who passed through Canada's residential school system. Those Indigenous people who died of those schools and those who survived despite them in their varying conditions to this day, suffered at the hands of a system sculpted by systemic racism.
I had a thought for an avatar to commemorate the anniversary here on Dreamwidth, but I wonder if I'm being arrogant in having that thought. I may be part of a Treaty people, but I'm not Indigenous.
