Two Points

2. Still working on the HTML/CSS studies as of this afternoon. Finding the pace of learning comfortable enough for now.
Sidebar question: how do you feel about Brackets as a text editor program? Skillport's people seem to prefer it for their own reasons.
Just starting on metatags re: image sizing at the moment...

Date: 2020-08-28 01:38 pm (UTC)I've taken to Microsoft Visual Code editor. I've had the problem of being multi-platform for some time now, and they released a Mac version! I've really appreciated MS finally acknowledging there are people who don't use PCs. I now have it running on both my Macs, my PC laptop, and my work PC and quite like it. It knows HTML and color codes appropriately.
My only complaint is that they update it so frequently! Like that's a bad thing.

I'm not planning on going on with Microsoft because of their push of the subscription-based business model. I'm sure the software does what you need it to do.

Date: 2020-08-28 02:17 pm (UTC)In this case their Code editor is free, otherwise I would not use it or recommend it. But I completely understand your reluctance and I otherwise use open source and I do pay for OS software.
Sadly EVERYONE seems to be pushing for software rental. It is definitely not something for me.

Date: 2020-08-28 05:18 pm (UTC)Brackets seems to be adequate for the job for now. The color-coding, indentation and file tracking are large parts of what you need in an IDE when you're starting out just so you can keep track of what you're actually looking at. Having it understand the syntax of multiple code languages is important; you don't know when you're going to be working in javascript, CSS, HTML, PHP, or what framework and subset of these languages you need to navigate.

Date: 2020-08-28 08:42 pm (UTC)Looking at PHPStorm...yeah, that looks to be a bit much for what I currently expect to learn to do in my coding. Compared to that, Visual Studio might be more suited to my current budget limits.
