Sigh. Given the amount of manure they left behind (and the diseases spread by said souvenirs), I am not sure I miss hay-burners in the city at all.

I've noticed that the modern crop of hay-burner drivers seem to have long since taken that particular worry to heart, judging by some of the stuff you see those horses wearing in the course of their labours.

I think I will leave the discussion there for now.
