John Scalzi just passed along word from the Washington Post that McClatchy - formerly Knight-Ridder - just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and they're preparing to hand over their newspapers to a hedge fund.

So there's that hard news as part of the morning's info-load.

Just what we need. I read about physician practices owned by capital groups, and now we get newspapers owned by hedge funds.

This plague is not unknown to Canada, as David Olive explained back in 2016. That plague is still in place and the Postmedia newspapers continue to hobble along.
