FLICKR/TOYS: LEGO at the Rideau Centre

I didn't know they had house-branded stores until they started moving into the space formerly occupied by Sunrise Records at the Rideau Centre. This location's right across the hall from the local Disney store, so I'm expecting a fair bit of mutual positive synergy between the two retail chains here.

I went into a Lego Store once or twice, they're pretty neat. It was the toy that I always wanted but never had as a kid, and now that I can afford them, not nearly as interested.

And nowadays, grown-ups are going all-in. Not just on LEGO, of course, but they're part of the overall trend. Both retail outlets - both house-branded and other outfits like Hudson's Bay Co. - and over-the-web-order, I expect.

My boss at the police dept back in the '90s was such an addict to Disney kitsch and going to Disneyland that he had a part-time job at a Disney Store just to get a discount and early access to merchandise.  And the PD paid pretty good money.
