Preclearance Agreements?

Canadians have been getting warned about this for a couple of years now, since Obama's second term at least.

Even if a Canadian official is "unwilling" to conduct a search or has deemed a detainment unnecessary, a U.S. official can override that call. In other words, Canadian law enforcement can now be countermanded within Canada by Americans.

I am reluctant to travel to the US any more.

I stopped back in 2002 after getting home from San Diego Comic Con that year. I'm not going back, barring several miracles of political and ethical sanity.

Do other countries allow other countries to have border police on their soil? As far as I know, we don't have Mexican police north of our southern border.

This should under no circumstances be allowed.

I don't know. It's a good question to ask, especially when looking at, say, the EU with their Schengen Agreement re: free movement of people within and between the signatory nations' territories. If we can move from what we have now to that sort of arrangement among at least the NAFTA partner-nations, that would be an improvement. I can't see it happening with Trump's regime in the States right now, but another administration, one closer in temperament to Obama or Warren or Sanders?
