You know, you'd think the people trying to commit identity theft would be clever enough to realize that targeting people with no jobs or low-paying ones aren't going to yield a lot of return. They need to target rich people: they already have crappy credit scores, but the return for the time invested in their scams will be much higher.
I have a Gmail account specifically for job apps, it's used exclusively for that and SQL Server stuff. My actual email stuff is never given out to people with whom I interview. When I started at the library I had to create yet another Gmail account to tie in to the scheduling system - they use Google Calendar, and that actually worked well because I was able to use that Gmail account to tie in to a library list serve and not have that list serve pollute a working email account.
