I never watched Game of Thrones. Haven't even read the books. But I've had a lot of fun watching those of my friends who have done arguing amongst themselves about the whole thing.

Read the books. Waiting for The Winds of Winter. Have not watched shows. (I'm not really a media person.)

I'm hoping that the novels will differ enough to be a surprise.

I watched part of the first season and read most of the books, and yet I have so many Opinions that I'm sure I'm great fun for you!

I've read and seen it all (except the prequel novellas, which I've heard are good but just...aren't as interesting) and have Many Opinions.

I started reading the books after watching season 1. Finished all the books. They are overly-long, and increasingly, he needs an editor who will reign him in more effectively. Way too much blah, blah, blah. I sincerely doubt that he will ever finish the series, and I don't care -- I won't read them if/when they do materialize. I love the show, including the final two seasons that so many "fans" have been bitching about. My advice would be don't bother with the books -- you'll just be disappointed when the final tomes never appear.
