He refused to draw the distinction. It's an obedience test for his crowd now, and he chose to pass.

That is his base. And any Tory—particularly those who consider themselves The Good Kind of Immigrant—who thinks they have a conscience (lol) better be paying attention.

You've got to pity* the guy. He's trying so hard, but he's never gonna be able to pull off the Doug or Maxime levels of racism, so he's trapped in a losing game. He's trying to blow a dog whistle, but he's competing against opponents with actual whistles. There's no way he can be racist enough without losing his veneer of respectibilty.
