News from the provincial legislature in Toronto: Going after kids and teenagers, after oversight professionals, after Francophones across the province...and he expects us all to become (or resume being) drunk or stoned to distract us from the fact.

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with your own horrible Trumpling, and that he's apparently trying to destroy people and the economy in the same way that's happening here.

What worries me there is that he’s already successfully used the Notwithstanding Clause once against a court that said “nope, unconstitutional,” so I imagine he’ll just keep doing so like a hacker in a Hollywood movie who can break past any security barrier by typing or saying “Override.”

Looks to me like Ford is doing a slightly smarter job than Trump. At least he seems to understand how Canadian government works, which is more than Trump understood of how the American government worked when he stepped in.

And the Ontario Place shenanigans is not unlike what Trump wants to do to the FBI headquarters in DC. With the Dems in charge of the House starting in January, I think they'll be able to stop it.

Oh, I can believe that. Unfortunately. Trump understands very little of the world outside the length of his arm and his outstretched tiny hand.

As for the Dems, I'm praying they don't fall prey to internecine warfare, even as I pray that the GOP does.

I thought he also didn't properly run the weed store? So all we can do is drink?

In fairness, a lot of provinces ended up with pot shortages. That was to be expected (at least, I fully expected that to happen so was 100% not surprised). NB for example had to close a number of its stores because they couldn't supply them (but that is slowly rectifying itself). There was absolutely zero way to accurately predict what the demand would be.

Here's a story from the BBC on the Canada-wide pot shortfalls: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46200873

I dislike weed. But I also dislike low rise jeans and I don't think people should go to jail for either of them.

I am shocked to hear that Ford's government didn't take responsibility and was unprepared. Shocked.

I haven't read the details yet thanks to a 12-hr day followed by a concert, but I gather it's fucking disastrous.
