An acquaintance of mine at one of the 2300 AD role-playing game's forums on Facebook with a penchant for data mining found a few candidates that, while not exactly matching the "six light years" distance to Gamma Hydrae cited in the first two episodes of DSC, are close enough that the various fictional nebulae created for other Trek series' purposes might have pushed one or another of them off-galactic-orbital course enough to put them where the DSC writers want it.
