There was also a spike in births 9 months after....

At the time I lived 3 time zones west of there and it was rather a none-event for us except for a major news story.

Then, as now, I lived in Ottawa. It was a bit of a shock. Just under eight months after my father died...

It's odd how we can tie anniversaries of losses to events like that.  I remember my father-in-law died 11 days after we were married, and my wife's mother passing as I was recovering from my last pneumonia.

I was just speaking to the nieces about it. To this day, I'm surprised that they were selling "I survived the blackout" shirts by sunrise.
