May. 5th, 2018 09:22 amI am concerned that a lot of people now crossing the US-Canada border into Canada are doing so because they no longer see the US as "safe enough". And that they may well be right to see the situation in those terms. I think the "Safe Third Country" agreement may have to be set aside as a danger to people in need of real protection from real dangers.

Date: 2018-05-06 04:56 pm (UTC)But what Americans who want to move to Canada need to do is remember that the United States is a correctable system, and they need to vote in this year's mid-term elections. One-third of the Senate or more is up for re-election, and all of the House. Next year we'll vote for another third or more of the Senate, the entire House again, and the Presidency. If you keep voting the same people in to office, or people backed by the same backers, you're going to keep getting the same results.
There was an excellent thread on Quora: What's the stupidist thing an American has said to a Canadian about Canada. I was gobsmacked about the ones who assumed that it was just an extension of the United States.
