Problem with Google
Jan. 22nd, 2018 06:41 pmWhat the Hell is Google up to in getting rid of security questions?!?
What I really dislike that it seems that now, everytime I try to check GMail via my laptop machine, Google gives me this: "This device isn't recognized. For your security, Google wants to make sure it's really you." I've only been using that same laptop machine for close to a decade.

Date: 2018-01-23 12:11 pm (UTC)The problem is that most people use researchable answers to security questions, such as what city did you grow up in. I've taken to filling things in rather haphazardly. Did you know my first car was a Tardis? I just make sure to store the answers, where the site matters, in an encrypted lockbox on my phone.
But that doesn't help where Google is getting rid of security questions in favor of 2FA and other methodologies. Blizzard just added an optional app-based form of 2FA where, if you sign up for it, they also give you +4 bag space in World of Warcraft and a new pet. I'm undecided if I'm going to keep it engaged or turn it off.
